Carstairs is located in Alberta, Canada, between the small towns of Crossfield and Didsbury. We are:
north of Calgary by about 40 minutes
north of Airdrie by about 20-25 minutes
south of Olds by about 20-25 minutes
west of Deerfoot Trail by about 5 minutes
We are located at the intersection of Highway 581 and Highway 2A.
If you are coming from the areas of Calgary/Airdire and travelling on the main Deerfoot Highway, there are two exits into Carstairs. the first is Exit 305 and the second is Exit 315:
First exit if you are heading north, Exit 305
Second exit if you are heading north, Exit 315
If you are coming from the areas of Olds, Irricana & beyond, the exit from main Deerfoot Highway into Carstairs is listed as Exit 315:
If you are heading south, Exit 315
For parkiing, there is free street parking in the residential areas north and south of the festival area. Please respect household parking, handicap and fire hydrant zones. When the parade is done, parking will open up along Gough Rd. and 10 Ave S (commonly known among locals as "Main Street").
There are 2 sets of road closures. One for the complete event, and one for the parade only.
Parade: The parade event is a 1 hour closure of all streets along the parade route. Time is 10:50 am to 11:45am.
Complete Event Closute: Complete closure of 3 intersections from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm as listed below.
The 3 are:
1. Nanton Street closed at 10th Ave at 8:00 am – 4:00 pm AND NO traffic will go through. This is to accommodate the vehicles that will be parked on Nanton Street to participate
2. 11th Avenue closed at Hammond Street at 8:00 am – 4:00 pm AND NO traffic will go through. This is to stop traffic entering the parking lot at the curling rink.
3. 11th Avenue closed at Gough Road at 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
There will be volunteers here from 8:00 am to 4pm to allow vendors and parade participants to access the festival site.
